I woke to soft hands on my chest and stomach. I enjoyed the sensation a moment, eyes closed, tried to imagine who was touching me. The moment I felt wet lips slide over my flaccid cock, I knew it was Bailey.

We were alone on the bed, the others already gone as dawn crept in. Bailey smiled at me around my shaft, continued sucking me slowly, lovingly. Her hands drew lazy circles over my abdomen and down my thighs. I moaned softly in the chilly early morning air.

Bailey's head bobbed, her lips sliding up and down my length, her tongue teasing the head of my cock each time she took me deep into her throat. I brushed the hair off her face and held it in one hand behind her neck as she drooled saliva over me. Her mouth was always tender and this time was no different. I loved feeling Bailey's lips on my dick, and I groaned as I felt myself swelling in her mouth.

Bailey was in no hurry, but my body built quickly towards release. I said quietly, “getting close...”

She mewled, clearly wanting me to cum in her mouth. In moments, I was there. My hips rose higher, higher, and Bailey braced herself for my ejaculation. “Ohhh... Bailey... ooooohhhhhh...” Semen rushed out of me and into Bailey's mouth. Three, four pulses sent my cum between her lips. She held me deep, the head of my cock in her throat. I felt her stifle a gag, never moving off me as I spurted semen inside her.

My cum pooled in her throat, and I felt her swallow hard as the last shot splashed in her mouth. She swallowed again, then again, finally pulling me from her lips, thin ribbons of jism trailing down her chin and onto her leaking breasts. One more swallow was followed by a smile. “You taste so sweet.”

“Mmm... god, that was good... Love cumming in your mouth, Bailey... Can I do you now?”

She shook her head. “No. I fingered myself a bit earlier, but I'm too sensitive again. Soon though. I want you to taste me soon, Kal.”

“Mmm... I want that more than you know. I can't wait. I knew Kate rather enjoyed eating your pussy that night.”

Bailey laid back down beside me, let me cradle her in my arms. “That was wonderful. Wish I could do that to her. I bet she tastes so good.”

“More than you know...”

A light drizzle blanketed the camp when we rose, Katie in my arms, her eyes watching every motion with curiosity. I saw sad faces, knew something was wrong. Gale caught my arm, said, “Hona's not doing well... She had a very rough night, coughing up blood...”

“Oh... no...”

“Yeah...” Gale sounded crushed.

“Nothing Manu can do? Maybe Kate can take a look at her.”

“Already tried, Kate doesn't know what's wrong, either. God, I hate this Kal. I hate that she's suffering and we can't help her.”

Bailey held my waist, her face pressed against my shoulder. “I she going to be alright?”

Gale shrugged dejectedly. “I don't know... No one does... I sure hope so...”

We sat in silence in the drizzle, the rain not enough to keep the cookfire from roaring. It certainly did nothing to help our mood. A breakfast of porridge was eaten with little conversation.

I poked my head in to see Hakee curled up next to Hona. I wasn't sure if teen was asleep, but Hona was out, and looking much worse than the day before. Hona and Hakee had shared a special bond, and though it hadn't been the powerful, romantic one that Hakee needed, they'd been good to each other and shared a hut as lovers.

I felt like crying, but I held it in, didn't want to make anyone else let loose the tears I knew were there. Maybe she'd get better. I knew Manu was doing everything she could. I hoped it would be enough.

No one was much motivated to do anything that day, and when the drizzle turned into a downpour with thunder and lightning, we retreated as a group to the shelter of the common hut. Manu and Hakee stayed with Hona, coming by from time to time to keep us updated. There was no change that afternoon, and as evening approached and we ate canned fruit and dried beef which had come from Papeete. We talked little and felt terrible about Hona's condition.

- - -

The thunderstorm still raged as the night grew late. No one wanted to leave the comfort of having most of the family together. Other than Hakee and Manu who were glued to Hona's bedside, the rest of us were laying on mattresses which covered the floor of the common hut. I had my back against wall beneath the bookshelves, thinking about how we'd had a few close calls together.

Keekah's broken leg had been scary, though the near-fatal attempt to bring her back to camp had been more so. My own frightening moments with fever came back to me frequently, and I hoped Hona would pull through as I had. Gale had her own close call with fever in the weeks before we discovered each other. Death was so close sometimes, and it had gotten easy to forget that in the months without serious illness or injury.

Amy was sleeping, her head next to my thigh. Bailey nursed Katie beside me. I looked to where Tok and Gale were talking quietly, Mie beside Gale, Poln next to Tok. Both children seemed to be awake.

Children. That was the wrong term for Mie, certainly. She'd hit puberty and given me her virginity months before. I realized then that she'd grown in my absence, Poln too. Her body had matured, grown taller, her tiny puffs had become slightly-larger tiny puffs, her pubic hairs more dense, almost covering her maturing genitals. She was twelve now, I'd missed her birthday during my time away. She was the same age Bailey had been when she'd washed up on the island. I certainly hadn't thought of Bailey as a child.

Poln was still such, though just on the cusp of changes which would cause him to grow and become a young man. He already looked taller, his arms and legs taking on the hint of muscles. His penis and testicles were still just small, round nubs, except when he became erect, and even then, his genitals were obviously immature.

I thought about what this must be like for those two. They'd known terror and loss in their flight from Hahonoko. They'd lost family and friends, their homes destroyed, all the pleasures of being young taken from them in a rush of fear and sadness.

Still, they'd quickly blossomed once they were settled on the island. Both were generally cheerful, helpful. They often made me smile at the silly games they played. I wanted badly in that moment to break out the soccer ball and kick it around with them a while.

I saw Tok whisper something in Poln's ear and the boy giggled. A moment later, Gale got the same reaction from Mie. Whatever it was, it lightened things in the room for a few seconds before the melancholy mood settled in again.

Nina rose, said to me quietly, “I'm gonna go check on Hakee, see how she's doing,” then left the room. Kate stretched out next to Bailey and offered to hold Katie.

There was a lull in the storm. Bailey looked at me, said, “need to pee.”

“I'll go, too,” I replied, trying not to disturb Amy as I left.

I took Bailey's hand and we walked out in the rain, distant thunder rumbling, lighting just peaking along the edges of the horizon. She squatted down in the surf and urinated. I peed next to her in silence. Bailey looked at me, watched the piss slow to a trickle.

It was a surprise when she turned and took me into her mouth, her tongue and lips cleaning away the fresh urine from my flesh. It was a strange thing, that ritual cleaning that Keekah had introduced us to so long ago. No one much practiced any more on the island, but I saw the sadness in Bailey's eyes as she finished and let me slip from her mouth.

“I just needed that for some reason. Just needed it...”

I pulled her up, saw the tears in her eyes despite the rain. It made me sad to see Bailey cry, and I brought her to me for a tight embrace.

“I hate this, Kal... I hate that Hona is sick...”

“I know... me too, Kitten. Me too...”

“This waiting around is awful. Damn rain... Damn rain.” Bailey rarely swore, her frustration coming through clearly in her words. “I just want to do something.”

“Hang in there, Bailey. I know. We're all feeling it. I wish there was something we could do to help her, but there's not. Right now, all we can do is wait and hope that by morning, she's feeling better.”

“What if she's not?”

I didn't answer, felt the lump in my throat jump.

“I'm glad you're here for this, Kal. This is so hard... I don't know what I'd do without you here for this...”

I held Bailey in the rain, not knowing what to say, thankful that my young wife was in my arms, giving me strength.

Back in the hut, we saw weary faces. While I was in Papeete, Tok and Hona had built a small pit into the floor near the door in case we wanted to heat something over a small fire. Bailey went back to hold Katie and I got flames going, settling a pot of water to boil. I went to our food storage in another hut, fished out a tin of sweetened cocoa from the Papeete supplies, and headed back as the thunder and lightning began in earnest.

Once the water was boiling, I mixed in the powder and poured cups of hot chocolate for anyone who wanted it. It brought tired smiles for a few moments as everyone sat in silence, sipping the sweet, steaming fluid. It was a small thing, but when you're stuck waiting, sad, unable to find resolution to something so emotionally raw, sometimes the small things can help.

I heard a couple of conversations start up again, and that helped my mood a touch. I grabbed a book from the shelf and sat next to Mie. The girl's head resting on Gale's thigh, her eyes watching me. I looked at Mie and Poln, said, “anyone interested in a story?” I saw little eyes look a shade brighter as Mie slowly sat up and Poln moved to my other side.

I'd grabbed the first Harry Potter book. The whole set had been part of the box from Papeete. I knew I wouldn't even scratch the surface of the story that night, but that was sorta the point. I wanted to read to them beyond those sad moments, wanted to be part of their lives, too.

I'd never had much to do with them, not out of rejection or disdain, just that they often clung to Manu or Hakee, and I was regularly occupied with the wonderful women I'd surrounded myself with. Now that I had Katie, I was beginning to understand what it meant to be part of a child's life, for them to be part of mine. I aimed to be more involved in seeing Mie and Poln grow up, and not just sexually, as I had been with Mie.

And so I started at the beginning of the first book, Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone. I knew it was the original British title, but the story was the same as the one I know as the Sorcerer's Stone.

Mr. and Mrs. Dursley, of number four, Privet Drive, were proud to say that they were perfectly normal, thank you very much...”

Young faces grew more interested the longer I read, and Bailey and Amy got closer, as did the others. Soon, I had everyone's attention as I introduced them to Harry and the fascinating world of magic and friendships. I knew Amy and Bailey both knew the story, Kate as well, but even they seemed to let go of the hurt and let me tell it to them again. I only stopped when I felt Poln's head hit my leg, and Mie's eyes droop and close before she tried, mostly unsuccessfully, to open them again.

I put the book down to kind smiles around me. Manu was standing in the doorway quietly, watching. She mouthed “thank you” before telling us that there was nothing new to report. I slid down the mattress and Mie's arm slid over my stomach, her face pressed into my side when I put an arm around her.

The others were settling in as well. Nina must have stayed with Hakee at Hona's bedside, and Manu returned after dropping in briefly. The rest of us fell under, one-by-one, emotionally exhausted.
